During the three month lock down in Italy, I painted a series of oils on the theme of same sex loves of the ancient Greek Gods. Here is one of them.
ZEUS, the king of the Gods abducting the most beautiful man on earth - GANYMEDE. Clearly this subject has always been a forceful advocate for male - male love.
The Greek myth tells us that Zeus changed himself into an eagle in order to fly down to earth to bring the young man up to Olympus. The challenge of painting a golden eagle hurtling through the clouds while somehow holding onto a young man was both enormous and therefore ... irresistible!
